We specialize in fine finish carpentry and high quality custom wood cabinets. Below are answers to some of the questions our customers have asked us.

How long has Paul's Woodworking been in business?

My name is Paul Brandt, and I am the  owner of Paul’s Woodworking. I’ve been in business now for over 38 years and am fully licensed and insured.

I’ve worked with all types of subcontractors – electricians, plumbers, painters, decorators and inspectors.

If you’re looking for someone you can trust to run your project and schedule subcontractors as needed, let me know. I’ll be glad to answer any questions you may have.

What is finish carpentry?

Finish carpentry is the final step in the process of installing cabinets, wall units, baseboards, window frames, crown molding, staircases and more. Finish carpenters are skilled at creating wood features that offer an aesthetically pleasing appeal to residential and commercial construction and remodeling projects.

Can wood cabinets be refinished?

Yes – most of the time. It’s fairly easy to successfully refinish kitchen cabinets as long as they are in good shape and are made of real wood and not particle board.

Which wood is best for cabinets?

Any type of hardwood is great for bathroom, kitchen or other cabinets. It really depends on your preference.

When choosing wood for cabinets you’ll want to consider the type of grain, the color, and the texture. There are some grains that are “busier” than others.

Some people prefer wood that’s more uniform in color. Others may want the contrasting lights and darks of hickory.  Either way, we at Paul’s Woodworking will be glad to help you get great looking cabinets for your home or office.

How do you clean wood cabinets?

You can easily clean wood cabinets if they’re finished  in polyurethane. Start with warm water and a mild soap. Be sure to thoroughly dry them off afterwards with a clean cloth.

To clean wood cabinets with a lacquer finish take a very dry damp cloth and wipe them dry immediately with a clean cloth in order to avoid damaging the finish.

How much are wood cabinets?

At Paul’s Woodworking we look at each job and ask the customer what they’re looking for. Once we have all the information, we make recommendations as to the best way to achieve it.

Every job is different. Also, different types of hardwoods are different prices. Either way, we’ll work with you to achieve the look you desire at a budget you can afford.

Can you build a staircase with wood risers?

At Paul’s Woodworking we love to build custom stairs. Whether you’re looking for an elegantly simple staircase with wood railings, a stylish wood staircase with white risers, or a beautiful custom wood floor landing or entryway, we can make your vision a reality.
